Halls Gap Zoo

When visiting the Grampians, a stop at Halls Gap Zoo is popular, as it is Victoria’s largest regional zoo.

Built in the foothills of the majestic Grampians National Park, the zoo is home to more than 160 species of animals. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy with curious meerkats, giant giraffes, colossal rhinos, fast cheetahs, and numerous wallabies and kangaroos to feed.

There are barbecue and picnic areas, a children’s playground, wild animals roaming free, a gift shop with snacks and souvenirs, and plenty of open space. You won’t be cramped and won’t have to jostle to get a good view. Why not take it up and get up close and personal with the friendly animals? The newest member of the Halls Gap Zoo family

Don’t leave the zoo without visiting the family’s youngest members: the twin golden lions and tamarins. These cute animals are only three months old and the size of a small coffee cup. Males help raise their cubs, often carrying them on their backs between meals. So you’re likely to see them on their father’s back. It’s too adorable to miss!
